On our way to happily attend the wedding of Emma and Brady, we stopped off at Black Canyon of the Gunnison. We then headed up to Salt Lake City for the wedding and to spend some time with the kids. After the wedding, we went to Moab to visit Arches and Canyonlands.
Having just recently moved to Santa Fe, many people were quite confused when we decided to spend 4th of July weekend up in Colorado. It turns out, we were really there on a full-time RV shopping trip. We found a used Airstream there but later decided against buying it.
Twenty-five years after first hatching the idea of moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico, we actually did it! This is the story of our move, accompanied by photos and a quick ‘goodbye to Park City’ video.
An unexpected Southern California sojourn thanks to David quitting his job (i.e., we used his resignation as an excellent excuse to head out with our Basecamp 16x on yet another adventure). This time we went from red rocks and snow to white sands and sun to the Arizona desert (yes, yet another visit to Cedar Pocket) and back to the Wasatch Mountains.
Back on the road with our Airstream Basecamp 16x, this time to Southern California to spend Thanksgiving with our family, including our new granddog, Carl the Sheepadoodle.
A brief report (photos included) of our visit to Great Basin National Park with our Airstream Basecamp 16x. The highlight of our weekend was our hike to Rock Glacier. We hiked past ancient bristlecone pines to a glacier at 11,000′ and we also visited an Alpine Lake. It was fall and the foliage was amazing!
Our amazing week in Colorado, including Rocky Mountain National Park, Great Sand Dunes National Park, and Mesa Verde National Park. Our original plan did not include Great Sand Dunes, but when we saw it on the map, we decided to make a detour even though that meant missing our planned ranger tour of some cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde. This is the story of our adventure!
That time we decided to “reserve” a campsite at a first come first served campground by pitching a tent, setting up a chair, and loitering around for a few hours. Oh yeah, we had a fun weekend in the High Uintahs too.
Our fifth trip with Al Denty was on the fourth of July, 2021, as we traveled up to West Yellowstone, Montana, for some boondocking in a U.S. Forest Service campground. Yes, there were crowds, but we still managed to have a great time, see lots of sights, and we even roasted an apple pie over a campfire!
We’d always heard about Flaming Gorge and while we spent a few hours there several years ago with the girls, we thought it was time for us to go camping there. It was a nice weekend of relaxing, sightseeing, and learning more about being RVers, boondocking, and camping.
Back to California, this time for Mother’s Day! Along the way, we stopped at the Wendover Air Field, boondocked in Tonopah NV, stayed at a noisy RV park in Mammoth Lakes CA, spent time at Valencia Travel Village in Santa Clarita CA, and then boondocked in Cedar Pocket AZ on the way home. This is a long post with lots of details, but fear not because there is a also gallery of photos.
We went to visit David’s parents at their second home in Rancho Mirage, California. We stayed at the very posh Emerald Desert RV Park (highly recommended!). On the way back, while traveling through the California desert, we happened upon Roy’s Motel and Cafe along Route 66 in Amboy. Here is a little vignette of our …
After being apart for far too long and thanks to the big brains at Pfizer and Moderna, we were able to make the trek to the desert to spend Passover with David’s parents. Yes, I know, we are supposed to be delivered from the desert at this time of year, but we’ve only had one …
After a nearly 6-month delay, we finally took delivery of our 2021 Airstream Basecamp 16x and took it for a long weekend shakedown cruise.
Our first trip in our 2021 Airstream Basecamp 16x travel trailer (“Al Denty”). This includes picking it up from Airstream of Utah, traveling to Idaho, staying at two Harvest Hosts locations, and traveling back home to Utah. Along the way, we went cycling, hiked around the Snake River, and visited the Minidoka National Historic Site.
Welcome to Al Denty Adventures. Come along for the ride as we share our journeys in our 2021 Airstream Basecamp 16x.
